03/25: Uncle Patrick

My Uncle Patrick Sokas passed away two years ago to the day. His passing was both sudden and unexpected, but from it came one of the most interesting and beautiful acts of tribute and remembrance in the form of Found Patrick. My aunt, Patrick's sister Regina embarked on a journey of collecting my uncle's written work... Continue Reading →

03/24: Ant Colonies and Microchip Urbanism

The following is a consolidation and elaboration of a few thoughts and interests: A few years ago I saw a clip of a morning talk show interviewing Dr. Walter Tschinkel and his unique method of documenting the structure and spatial arrangement of ant colonies. He would pour molten aluminum into the ant hills and then excavate... Continue Reading →

A brief look at Graph Commons, a tool for organizing basic network patterns. As part of exploring the medium I took a look at Wikipedia and a few comedians whom have influences listed on their pages. I will leave the general back story of the... Continue Reading →

Finally made it up to the George Nakashima Foundation and Workshop this afternoon for their open house (Saturdays 1-4:30pm). They allow photography on the grounds, but not inside the buildings. Here are some photographs of the buildings and some sketches of the buildings and furniture:

02/10: Main Streets

Another detour today, this time down Main Street, or The Main Street Project, which began in 1977 and (until last year) was operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It started as architectural and economic analysis meant to help local governments come up with strategies to revitalize their downtown. The Main Street Project summarize their... Continue Reading →
