This historic stone spring house dates back to the 1870s and has had many lives. Most recently flanked by two additions from the mid-20th century, we worked to remove vinyl and paint to return the stone to a more natural and elemental state. In response to flood zone and historic preservation regulations (as well as three adjacent Sycamore trees), Standard Architects designed a new addition to the south and west of the historic structure. The new modern volumes are clad in metal and wood and engage in a dialogue with the existing stone.
As project manager I worked with the firm principal and team on the massing, materiality, layout and composition of the design. I lead the documentation process which culminated in the issuances of bid drawings and construction documents.
