As part of a collaboration between David Cunningham Architecture Planning and Gans & Co, I provided research and graphics for DCAP’s competition entry for the AIANY/NYC HPD Small Lots competition. New York City wanted to generate ideas for developing city owned but awkwardly laid out plots of land. Our strategy took a holistic approach to all twenty-odd city owned lots and proposed sharing development rights and utility costs through the use of a land trust and neighborhood solar ‘micro grids’ and using modular construction to reduce construction time and costs.
