05/01: Sacre Coeur d’Alger

A few photos from a trip last year to Algeria, today of the Cathedrale du Sacre-Coeur d’Alger. It was planned and designed before Algeria gained independence from France, but was completed after to a country whose Catholic inhabitants were part of one of the greatest mass exoduses in human history. Notice in the first photograph that a petrol station has opened up next door. The church is still open, serving as the head of the Archdioceses of Algiers, and holds a daily mass in a small chapel in the basement.

  1. Hi Adam Achrati, I was wondering If I could use your photos for a blog post I am writing about the amazing architecture of the Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur d’Alger. I will, of course, reference your website and your name under the photos I use. I will post it on my website https://3rdworldarchitecture.wordpress.com/. Hope you can give me permission to use them, though I understand if you’d rather I wouldn’t. I can send you a word document version of the story before I post it if you wish so you can see how I reference your pictures. Thank you in advance, Boris
